I need some advice from all you moms out there.
We have been talking about moving Lincoln
from his crib to a bed in the next several
months before the new baby gets here.
Do you think it is better to use a toddler bed
or a twin bed? We just aren't sure which one to
get. Any thoughts?

OH, I am going to be watching for people's advice because I am having the same trouble. I can't wait to hear what people think.
Sydney's bed transformed to a toddler bed, but she didn't sleep in it. We bought her a big bed, and by big I mean a full. She loves it. I personally think a twin would be better than a toddler especially if you're having to buy both of them. He can use the twin forever.
With both of our boys we went straight to a twin. We put railings on it so they wouldn't roll out, but they loved the "big boy bed." We also started with the mattress on the floor for the first month or two to get used to it without worrying about falling out. The other perk, you don't have to buy two beds.
I think I might have already told you, but I think a toddler bed is a waste of money. Ella did great moving to a twin bed with railings on it. Claire went straight to a twin bed too and does great. We never even put a mattress on the floor, but that sounds like a good idea.
Twin all the way.
We were given a toddler bed...so I loved that direction...but Brody and Jocelyn share a room...and so here pretty soon...I'd like to get a twin bed just to match...otherwise she'd be fine in her toddler for at least another year! I just like that she's close to the ground still! But that's really all I know...Brody didn't get into a twin until he was 3 1/2...space reasons! But he will NEVER go back to a toddler bed...his choice...so how's that for confusing!
We just got Spencer a twin bunk bed...eventually ours will have to share a room, at least in this house. We just barely set it up last night, but he was super excited about it! We took him shopping with us at IKEA and let him crawl all over the displays. He thought that was really fun and he was with us when we bought everything and we kept telling him that it was his new bed.
My advice is to go straight to a twin. The reason is that way you don't have to change them twice. Just get a bed rail for the bed.
I would say a twin bed if you have the space for it. Just one less transition later on... Plus, I don't know about your little guy, but Jayden was a wild sleeper, so the twin gave him more space to toss and turn before falling off the bed. A bed rail was a must for us for the same reason, but if he likes to be tucked in and holds pretty still he'd probably be okay without it. Even with a rail Jayden fell out a couple of times, but he survived.
I think you should have him come stay with G-Ma. He can have a queen size bed all to himself.
